sweet! touristbureau skin for mars s.t.s. coming along better than expected! i just revamped the menus, which are global, and they retain their correct form even though i haven’t touched the other skins’ css files yet! (will do so anyway.)

looking real good so far. i do need to do something about the donate button, though. right now it’s permanently set into the menu’s overall div. may need to change that. also, i think i’m going to tweak the horizontal menu for touristbureau so that it spans the width of the page instead of just the left 60% or whatever. this means i’ll just have to use layer indexing, which i normally hate (arbitrarily), so that the logo and switchbox is on top of the menu thing.

did two tons of laundry today. am cleaning the hell outta my room tomorrow, too. so flooding better damn sure make it out here ÷)

wow, i’ve been really nervous about it, too. as if we hadn’t already met. weird, huh?

speaking of which, she needs to replace her brand new car that she just bought a day ago. does anyone know of a car that actually runs good, is at least almost cool, and is preferably going for less than $1,000? just some older car that’s not perfect but runs well enough and doesn’t look like complete shit would be nice. and preferably easy enough to work on… no weird-ass Yugoslavian shit need apply.

so after seeing this, i’ve decided that there is no way in hell i’m ever going to get paid while my site still looks like it does. so i’m going to redesign it again. same color scheme, but i’m going to extract the tables, take them out back, and bury them for good. and then i’m going to do multiple styles for it. and i’m going to clean the hell out of the code, simplify the whole mess, make it xhtml-compliant; and in the end, it will look much the same, only slightly nicer, and with no invalid code. and then redo the whole rest of meat-thing.com in valid xhtml as well. ~tmp will be a bitch, since it’s got my old cross-browser translucent code (javascript version – eugh!).

this after i finish making the touristbureau skin for mars s.t.s. – which is coming along nicely finally, tyvm.

when i am done, i will proclaim myself just king enough to devote a new site to tips & tricks. in fact, something to replace the old, unused, overlooked (for good reason) technothrope.com. i think i’ll use mars to power that one.

come to think of it, i could use mars on everything, i guess. have like 3 completely different skinsets for each site.

but i’d need to do a skin that looks an awful lot like transmothra.com first. and that’ll actually be sorta hard, kinda, since i have one more textbox there than i do with the current mars setup. or i could just skip transmothra.com and not use mars for that particular one.

so i was sitting in my excremeditation chamber (i’m an excrementalist – i predict shit, and figure shit out), when i suddenly had an idea, and exclaimed the perfunctory but nonetheless requisite “Eureka!”

i have solved the TOE (the so-called Theory Of Everything – a.k.a. the Unified Field Theory)!

the problem is this: we are using flat, two-dimensional mathematics to try to describe a multidimensional spacetime. here’s the idea:

we think of Time as the 4th dimension. which means that the dimensions go in this order: point, line, square, cube, time, hypercube, ???…

why does time not show up earlier? surely a point or a line can “experience” time… right? time makes a point a line, a line a square, a square a cube, a cube a… not time, but a hypercube… and so on.

therefore, Time should be referred to not as the fourth dimension, but as the n+1 (or p+1) dimension.

…is it possible to separate time from space? to have time without space, or space without time? perhaps, at least in theory. so that would mean that time alone would be the 1st dimension, where a line would also be a first-dimensional space… which is incompatible. we must make time the n+1 dimension at once!

furthermore, the Cosmos is made of Change itself. as we travel along a space, we notice that it may go forward, turn left, turn right, turn up, down, in, out, etc… and that this does not necessarily depend on our travel through Time. a bump in a 3-dimensional surface is a change, just as a corner on a 2-d surface is a change, just as a curve on a 1-d surface is a change. Time is a further change, so that Change happens, in normal spacetime, in at least two dimensions, assuming an observer is travelling through space (we can’t help but do that, being passengers on a mote of dust we call “Earth”), and through time (which we also can hardly help). if we could stop our journey through time somehow, and also stop our absolute movement through space, then we would cease to exist in three-dimensional space, and exist as a line, perhaps, or even a mere point. we would effectively negate the experience of at least TWO dimensions.

i repeat:
the Cosmos is Change!

…constant, all-pervading change, and lots of it! Chaos truly does rule!

but i’m pretty sure that theoretical physicists have already been taking all this into account. it’s just hard to extrapolate that they do from reading laymanesque manuals. nothing new here after all! carry on!

i’ve finally used the phrase “much-ballyhooed” in a sentence of my own construct. i can now die peacefully.

i wonder why the really ancient religions, particularly the Egyptian, Sumerian, Akkadian, etc., are never properly revived? granted, we know precious little these days, especially of their ways and customs and cermonies. but we know quite a bit, comparatively speaking, about their deities. perhaps i will do some research on these things. i remain devoutly agnostic; and yet there is something terribly sexy about exotic deities and dead gods.

went to the grave this morning. brought carnations. a nice elderly man offered to mow our lot, and did so. he said that he read where the city is half a million in debt and thought -correctly- that the cemetery would be the first place to be skimped on. it is already a pretty bad cemetery, even as municipal ones go. they won’t even allow non-flat headstones in the newer sections, for maintenance reasons. which i hate. it was really overgrown there, too. poor corpses.

lawnmower man’s last name was “Trick,” or something very like that; he said that his daughter had died about 3 years ago and was about 32. so sad!

needless to say, this is a bad day for me. my own mother i won’t even go into. her mom is absent from me. my grandmother (dad’s ma) is napping at aforementioned cemetery. so i am sad.

on the way home, passed the world-famous (i’m not kidding) Wot-a-Dog, and thought about how much i wanted to bring my grandma back a root beer and a hot dog. she loved those hot dogs. i just silently wept and kept driving. i miss her so dearly. i wish i would’ve spent so much more time with her. i was so selfish. i won’t lie; i hardly ever went back to her room to spend time with her. in my defense, she slept an awful lot, and much of the time she did shoo me away. but there are so many hours i wish i had spent at her bedside. i’ll never get over that. it’s just one of those heavy sorrows that i’ll carry with me until i hit the dirt myself. all i can do is hope that she understood somehow, and think of all the happier times; think of all the funny things instead and just glue the sad-ventricle of my heart shut with that morphine.

here’s yet another saturday night wasted. all i did was a little bit of coding, a little bit of drinking, and a lot of contemplating… but at least maybe set up a possible excursion with george_ums, who is terribly cool – but is moving away v.v. soon :(.

is anybody else here as ganked or as unglued as i am about the very real possibilty of having albums out within the year by the two greatest bands of the mid-80s, Tears for Fears and Duran Duran?

i am hereby making a promise to myself to actually do some work on that blasted touristbureau mars skin.

i have a beer. (2 beers, in fact; also in fact they are deuces, so that makes them four.) it is the weekend. i have nothing else to do, and nobody to see. (i realized today that the reason why nobody ever calls me, and the same reason why i never call anybody, is because they always have plans already. and i HATEHATEHATE feeling like i’m inviting myself into other people’s lives.)

first order: clean, non- browser-crashing code for the damn menu.
second order: break up index page into includes.
third order: rename all html files to be php. the menu files are (thankfully) already php, but if they hadn’t been, i’d have to do that anyway. might as well do the other files as well. hopefully, this won’t scare users, especially in regard to the /content/ files.
fourth order: come up with something to do for a fourth thing.
fifth order: create multiple versions of mars for downloading. (2-skin lite version; 5 skin full cheap; make more skins for a 10-skin deluxe package; seperate skins packages; etc.)

anyone have any ideas for new mars skins? if you want to do a graphics package, let me know and i’ll give you major props. we can even work out a PayPal scheme (for purchase by users). i’m not even sure how much i’ll be charging for my own skins, but it’ll likely be no more than $5, and probably more like $1 each. at least for now. but you can set your own price of course. if you want to do a full skin, though… wait until i’ve got this horizontal menu thing flattened out real nice. ‘coz some code is going to be gettin’ altered.
