flame war: operation “liberate me from this whole stupid world”

The article about Moore appeared a few months ago. Since he won an Oscar (recognized by the same group of people who bestowed Best Director upon a fugitive pedophile convicted of drugging and anal-raping a 13-year-old girl), there have been numerous articles about the inaccuracies of his “documentaries” and “factual” statements in his book. This is the same guy who claimed that 9/11 would not have happened if black men were aboard the hijacked airplanes b/c Muslims wielding boxcutters wouldn’t frighten a tough black man like they did a weak white pussy. The guy is an asshole, or at least someone who should be scrutinized just as much as Rush Limbaugh. Pointing out this fact didn’t merit a personal attack in return. As the stage has been set, though, let the games begin.

A few random thoughts … Liberals love to deplore the use of the word Evil when applied to terrorists, but eagerly apply it the motivations of corporations and Republicans. Liberalism is a bankrupt ideology. The Clinton administration was a corrupt regime. Name one foreign policy accomplishment of the Clinton years. I don’t recall you protesting our “intervention” in Kosovo, our aborted attempt to capture a warlord in Somalia, or the wag-the-dog bombing of a factory in Sudan. Might that have something to do with a Democrat in office? What a hypocrite. Nobody wants war – just keep in mind the real enemy. Who crashed planes into the WTC and the Pentagon? Who sponsors such terrorist bastards by rewarding the families of homicide bombers with a hefty sum? Saddam has a state rapist and routinely tortures his own people. Even 60 Minutes documented his chemical attack on the Kurds, so you know the liberal media at least acknowledges his atrocities. Weapons that don’t exist anymore? Are you insane, or willingly a fool? Even Hans Blix acknowledges that Iraq has WMD (read the full report if you dispute this fact). We captured nearly 3,000 chemical suits yesterday — my, what a freaking coincidence. Claiming that you don’t have WMD and then threatening to use them against us? Tell me how this makes sense. The embedded journalists are reporting the Iraqi atrocities against our troops — how can you deny this fact when journalists from liberal bastions like CNN, NY Times, Time, et al, are reporting the same story? Iraqis are a less-civilized society – of course they’re going to ignore the Geneva Convention. The U.N. doesn’t care about that fact, but let one Iraqi civilian get killed… Here’s the deal — moral relativism is a crock of shit and the cause of too many problems. There IS such a thing as Right and Wrong, Good and Evil. Whine all you want about how this a war for oil and money. If we wanted oil, why didn’t we stay in Kuwait, take over their oil wells, and pump that money back home? Hmmm, maybe b/c we’re not imperalistic. Disagree? Name one instance in the past century when the U.S. has conquered a country to control its resources. We saved the French and English in WWI, again in WWII, liberated SE Asia from Japan in WWII, rebuilt Europe and Japan, saved the South Koreans, tried to rescue the South Vietnamese from communism, saved innocents in Taiwan, Grenada, Panama, Kuwait, Haiti, Kosovo, Afghanistan, the list goes on virtually ad nauseum. Point is, we go in, kick ass, and return the land to its people. Ask the Afghani folks if they’re happier now — women can actually attend school, which is something one would think feminists and leftists alike would celebrate. Say what you want about this country, but liberty (including free markets) is the cause of our greatness. We have accomplished more in 200+ years than any society in history. Iraq is wealthy country, but most of its citizens live in tents and hand-to-mouth. Want to crusade against amoral business decisions? Where’s your hatred of Saddam? The guy steals oil money, deprives, and then tortures his own people. Where’s the outrage? Still want to rail against amoral decisions? Why not boycott Hollywood for recognizing Polanski? Disagreeing with the war is simply using your First Amendment right of free speech. Don’t mistake this right with a noble cause. There is no nobility in dismissing the efforts of those who sacrificed to preserve your freedom; by doing so, your hypocrisy and ignorance of history and reality are exposed.

I think your positions are intellectually weak and certainly not supported by history or fact. Liberals tend to launch personal attacks when asked to justify their contentions/theories, so I expect a lot of fluff and very little evidence in response. I challenge you to answer the following: How would you have responded to 9/11? Pearl Harbor? Kosovo? Do you believe in the sovereignty of the U.S. or the supremacy of the U.N.?
