1) HEART– might be getting a dog. a female Aussie shepherd, 6 months old. will be the first dog i’ve had since my lil’ buddy Tyger died, more’n ten years ago now. i think it’ll be good for my grandfather, and for me. the story is really sad: an elderly man got the poor puppy to keep him company but died, poor guy. i hope the damned thing doesn’t kill us, too! with its fangs, fshh! fshh!, and its claws, sft! sft! and its horrible bloodlust… puppies are so evil.
2) SOUL– sometimes, when i hear Louis Armstrong sing “the dark, sacred night”, i can’t help but weep because of the overwhelming beauty of the Universe, when our little Sun steps aside for a few hours and shows us its brothers and sisters and cousins… billions and billions of stars (to quote an idol of mine), no doubt countless of them harboring life; some of that life just pulling itself up, out of its primordial waters, looking up for the first time to see the same thing with its alien eyes, possibly in a different band of light, that we marvel at each and every clear night. the endless, boundless beauty of the Universe… makes me want to explode in some kind of amalgamation of wide joy and deep sadness. we are not alone; and yet… it is so cold and lonely out here….
