FINALLY got to hear a song from GH’s new posthumous album. go damn i love that slide guitar playing of his. George Harrison is possibly the most underrated rock guitarist in the world. and for slide players… jesus. NOBODY can play slide like that. where does he get it???! now i can play a little slide here and there, but i certainly can’t make it weep like THAT. christ, how beautiful.

we miss you George.

does anybody know if there’s a used book store on the ‘net that runs kinda like Django’s?

happy birthday Jimi.

technothrope.com is coming along nicely… although i do hate the fact that i haven’t even gotten into the nitty gritty bits yet, and i’ve already put at least a hundred hours into the damned thing. right now i’m still working on the themes, changing the default logos and incidental graphics where needed. in fact, i haven’t even played around with the damn thing yet! (can someone tell me what the fuck the “avant go” feature of phpNuke is for??)

i’ve got ten megs just in themes alone here, folks. and that’s not counting all the really cool ones i had to set aside for tweaking. you’d be surprised how many really good designs damn near got nixed because the designer ignored 800*600 rez. dumb-asses. that’s exactly why i leave my screen set on that resolution. (i’m also not even thinking about getting a faster connection– if my stupid Flash crap causes somebody consternation while it’s downloading, i want to feel the pain, too.)

also, the domain should be live very very shortly. at present, it’s pulling up my 404 error page, which it should. DNS info has probably not propogated all the way across the ‘net, though, which means you may get an error page.

also, can anyone tell me why i shouldn’t just use my terrible society (phpBB2) database and just use suffixes for the tables? i mean, i can only assume there might be a performance issue, but i’m just not sure. especially since the latest beta is designed to link up with phpBB2 anyway.

my Uncle Kent is here. he’s the hip fucker who turned me on to the Talking Heads and Cowboy Junkies. so yay!

i wish i were on my own and far away again… i used to fast every Thanksgiving, as a way of atoning -in my own small, humble way- for the sins of my ancestors.

i’m lucky, actually. none of my ancestors were slave “owners” (that we know of), so they were probably not all that bad. and as far as Indians are concerned, there probably wasn’t much conflict in my tree, either- i’m related, somehow (and probably fairly distantly), to John Smith, the guy who married Pocahontas (and who, incidentally, had a bit of a reputation as a seer). i don’t think i have any Indian blood, but i may. it’s hard to tell. i do think my grandfather looks Cherokee, though. he has a long, rectangular face, with high cheekbones, and is fairly tall. still… it can’t be much, if any at all.

(i have this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach that i may in fact be 100 damn % white. god damn barbarians!)

of course, i know absolutely nothing about my mother’s side of the family. but even though they’re all terrible people as far as i’m concerned, i suspect they also have a similarly humane background.

i don’t know what i’d do if i discovered some horrible, dark story concerning some disturbing inhumanity in my family tree. i know i’d have profound turmoil in my soul, but to what end?

could you kill? could you kill an evil tyrant, or an oppressor? i wonder if i could or not… if i’d have the strength, the will, to take another life. i believe that i could be enraged enough to do it, depending upon the degree of the atrocity, but would i have the guts? i know, i know… i preach nonviolence and understanding and all that… but history has shown us that it rarely works as well as it did for Mohandas “Mohatma” (“Father”) Gandhi (who of course is like as unto a god to me). and i can’t help thinking that in some very dire circumstances… ah, i can’t bring myself to even finish the thought….

which path is the more enlightened? to kill an evil man… or to let him live and possibly, perhaps even probably, inflict sorrow and suffering upon many more victims? (hey… Jedis kill all the time.) …advice, and koans, are welcome. i truly wish to know.

(we will assume, for the time being, that the term “evil” contains no ambivalence as referenced.)

this week, i will wear at least one article of black clothing a day, in honour of all the dead Indians who we white people killed because we were disloyal and ungrateful. how’s that grab ya? a holiday called “Thanksgiving” that becomes such a tradition mainly among ingrates and descendants of ingrates!

i will give thanks for the fact that at least white people did stop just short of succeeding in their genocidal plans for ethnic cleansing of the American Indian.

mostly, i will give thanks that the world was blessed by a people such as they, who should have retaliated more than they actually did. they in fact should rise up again and kill all the white people on this continent, (okay, that’s maybe a little harsh, heheh) …at least rid the place of us, but they probably won’t. why? who knows. any attempt at explaining it would have to rely on oversimplified mass generalisation, like “they’re Good People”. oh well, a lot of them are, so there.

how many things do you know about hippies? (probably a lot.)
how many things do you know about New World Indians? (probably not much.)
it’s funny… i realised this years ago, but it was articulated perfectly a few years ago in the wonderful movie Smoke Signals (highly recommended film, especially for flooding, if she’s still on her Indian kick):
white people want to be Indians, especially in the 60s when people were having their own little versions of vision quests on LSD and mescaline, and so they dressed up in homemade clothing and wore sandals and beads and long hair and pass pipes around. probably why i don’t identify with hippies so much anymore… on top of being accidental conformists (oh, hi goth kids!), they’re also mostly a bunch of fakes. look at those Boomer bastards now – most of them sold out and now vote Republican.

anyways:
THANK YOU TO ALL THE INDIANS OF THE AMERICAS!!

damn, i’m just going through the 55+ themes i’ve narrowed down for my phpNuke and doing custom logos and graphics for each one. what a pain in the ass! i’ve only got maybe a dozen or so themes done so far. some of them have a million damn logo graphics, too. grr.

i’ve decided not to register internetfucker.com and instead i’m going with… [drumroll] …technothrope.com! (if you have to ask…). spooge.com was taken, as was a whole slew of other cool sounding onomatopoeias. i should have something working in the next coupla weeks, so keep yer eyes peel’t.

my uncle Kent will be here tomorrow (from NYC).

safety tip #232: it’s okay to move an electric shaver in a side-to-side motion if you need to get into a tight spot, such as underneath the nose. not so with an actual razor. i now have a second mouth to prove it.

oy vey! i’ve got phpNuke running locally… downloaded a fuckin’ HUGE themepack and had to whittle down 266 themes to 115, which is STILL way too many themes. soooo… now i go back and decide which ones i really really really like, and which ones i only really like. yikes, what a pain in the ass.

ironic that i’m doing this for a web dev site, and i’m not going to be doing hardly any of the design myself. in fact, i’m not sure just how much actual content i’m going to have, either. meh. i guess i just really want that domain name. it makes me laugh my ass off. trust me, it’s not hilarious; but i’m easily amused, especially by curse words.

the nuke rocks, btw. too bad it makes me feel so freakin’ lazy.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes, i just thought of the craziest, funniest domain name i’m gonna snatch up soon. i’m gonna make a tutorial/tips & tricks site and host it at meat-thing. it’ll be phpNuke-based, methinks, just for the sake of ease-of-use and safety… mainly because i don’t wanna have to write a damn PHP script just for damn submissions.

wow. i can’t believe i actually know one of the cats behind hyperreal.org. pretty cool. way to go, mjb! (his momz taught me piano waaaay back when i was like maybe 8 or something. i sucked, and eventually stopped and switched to guitar, a wise move… never had one lesson on guitar (okay, well… it shows, hee hee), because she taught me most of what i needed to know about music theory anyway… the rest, as they say, is history. well, mostly undocumented history, but history nonetheless.)

there: i am now INSANE!

omg, woke up this morning dreaming about LJ people… but not how you think. i was dreaming of posts and replies and things. reminds me of ’93 when i was having Doom-dreams all the time.

specifically, i was combining two posts made by astralweeks and some random Steven Stills-lovin’ freak on some csny community in a kind of synthesis or tribute to the posters or something. i don’t know, i don’t quite get it either.

fucking weird.

HAIL ERIS! UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPAL IS UNTENABLE!

i have just received this:

please reply to [email protected]
or [email protected],
thank you.

UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE

IS

UNTENABLE

By reanalysing the experiment of Heisenberg Gamma-Ray Microscope and one of ideal experiment from which uncertainty principle is derived , it is found that actually uncertainty principle can not be obtained from these two ideal experiments . And it is found that uncertainty principle is untenable.

Key words :

uncertainty principle; experiment of Heisenberg Gamma-Ray Microscope; ideal experiment

Ideal Experiment 1

Experiment of Heisenberg Gamma-Ray Microscope

A free electron sits directly beneath the center of the microscope’s lens (see the picture below or AIP page: http://www.aip.org/history/heisenberg/p08b.htm). The circular lens forms a cone of angle 2A from the electron. The electron is then illuminated from the left by gamma rays–high energy light which has the shortest wavelength. These yield the highest resolution, for according to a principle of wave optics, the microscope can resolve (that is, “see” or distinguish) objects to a size of dx, which is related to and to the wavelength L of the gamma ray, by the expression:

dx = L/(2sinA) (1)

However, in quantum mechanics, where a light wave can act like a particle, a gamma ray striking an electron gives it a kick. At the moment the light is diffracted by the electron into the microscope lens, the electron is thrust to the right. To be observed by the microscope, the gamma ray must be scattered into any angle within the cone of angle 2A. In quantum mechanics, the gamma ray carries momentum, as if it were a particle. The total momentum p is related to the wavelength by the formula

p = h / L, where h is Planck’s constant. (2)

In the extreme case of diffraction of the gamma ray to the right edge of the lens, the total momentum in the x direction would be the sum of the electron’s momentum P’x in the x direction and the gamma ray’s momentum in the x direction:

P’x + (h sinA) / L’, where L’ is the wavelength of the deflected gamma ray.

In the other extreme, the observed gamma ray recoils backward, just hitting the left edge of the lens. In this case, the total momentum in the x direction is:

P”x – (h sinA) / L”.

The final x momentum in each case must equal the initial x momentum, since momentum is never lost (it is conserved). Therefore, the final x momenta are equal to each other:

P’x + (h sinA) / L’ = P”x – (h sinA) / L” (3)

If A is small, then the wavelengths are approximately the same,

L’ ~ L” ~ L. So we have

P”x – P’x = dPx ~ 2h sinA / L (4)

Since dx = L/(2 sinA), we obtain a reciprocal relationship between the minimum uncertainty in the measured position,dx, of the electron along the x axis and the uncertainty in its momentum, dPx, in the x direction:

dPx ~ h / dx or dPx dx ~ h. (5)

For more than minimum uncertainty, the “greater than” sign may added.

Except for the factor of 4pi and an equal sign, this is Heisenberg’s uncertainty relation for the simultaneous measurement of the position and momentum of an object

.

Reanalysis

To be seen by the microscope, the gamma ray must be scattered into any angle within the cone of angle 2A.

The microscope can resolve (that is, “see” or distinguish) objects to a size of dx, which is related to and to the wavelength L of the gamma ray, by the expression:

dx = L/(2sinA) (1)

It is the resolving limit of the microscope, and it is the uncertain quantity of the object’s position.

Microscope can not see the object which the size is smaller than its resolving limit dx.

Therefore, to be seen by the microscope, the size of the electron must be larger than the resolving limit dx or equal to the resolving limit dx.

But if the size of the electron is larger than or equal to the resolving limit dx, electron will not be in the range dx. dx can not be deemed to be the uncertain quantity of the electron’s position which can be seen by microscope, dx can be deemed to be the uncertain quantity of the electron’s position which can not be seen by microscope only.

dx is the position’s uncertain quantity of the electron which can not

be seen by microscope

To be seen by the microscope, the gamma ray must be scattered into any angle within the cone of angle 2A, so we can measure the

momentum of the electron.

dPx is the momentum’s uncertain quantity of the electron which can be seen by microscope.

What relates to dx is the electron which the size is smaller than the

resolving limit .The electron is in the range dx, it can not be seen by the microscope, so its position is uncertain.

What relates to dPx is the electron which the size is larger than or equal to the resolving limit .The electron is not in the range dx, it can be seen by the microscope, so its position is certain.

Therefore, the electron which relate to dx and dPx respectively is not the same.

What we can see is the electron which the size is larger than or equal to the resolving limit dx and has certain position, dx = 0..

Quantum mechanics does not relate to the size of the object. but on the Experiment Of Heisenberg Gamma-Ray Microscope, the using of the microscope must relate to the size of the object, the size of the object which can be seen by the microscope must be larger than or equal to the resolving limit dx of the microscope, thus it does not exist alleged the uncertain quantity of the electron’s position dx.

To be seen by the microscope, none but the size of the electron is larger than or equal to the resolving limit dx, the gamma ray which diffracted by the electron can be scattered into any angle within the cone of angle 2A, we can measure the momentum of the electron.

What we can see is the electron which has certain position, dx = 0, so that none but dx = 0£¬we can measure the momentum of the electron.

In Quantum mechanics, the momentum of the electron can be measured accurately when we measure the momentum of the electron only, therefore, we can gained dPx = 0.

Therefore ,

dPx dx =0. (6)

Ideal experiment 2

Experiment of single slit diffraction

Supposing a particle moves in Y direction originally and then passes a slit with width dx . So the uncertain quantity of the particle position in X direction is dx (see the picture below) , and interference occurs at the back slit . According to Wave Optics , the angle where No.1 min of interference pattern is , can be calculated by following formula :

sinA=L/2dx (1)

and

L=h/p where h is Planck¡¯s constant. (2)

So uncertainty principle can be obtained

dPx dx ~ h (5)

Reanalysis

According to Newton first law , if the external force at the X direction does not affect particle ,the particle will keep the uniform straight line Motion State or Static State , and the motion at the Y direction unchangeable .Therefore , we can lead its position in the slit form its starting point .

The particle can have the certain position in the slit, and the uncertain quantity of the position dx =0 .

According to Newton first law , if the external force at the X direction does not affect particle, and the original motion at the Y direction is unchangeable , the momentum of the particle at the X direction will be Px=0 , and the uncertain quantity of the momentum will be dPx =0.

Get:

dPx dx =0. (6)

It has not any experiment to negate NEWTON FIRST LAW, in spite of quantum mechanics or classical mechanics, NEWTON FIRST LAW can be the same with the microcosmic world.

NEWTON FIRST LAW is one of the form of Energy-Momentum conservation law.
If the external force does not affect particle, but the particle will not keep the uniform straight line Motion State or Static State, it has disobeyed the Energy-Momentum conservation law.

Under the above ideal experiment , it considered that slit¡¯s width is the uncertain quantity of the particle¡¯s position. But there is no reason for us to consider that the particle in the above experiment have position¡¯s uncertain quantity certainly, and no reason for us to consider that the slit¡¯s width is the uncertain quantity of the particle¡¯s position.

Therefore, uncertainty principle

dPx dx ~ h (5)

which is derived from the above experiment is unreasonable .

Concluson

From the above reanalysis , it is realized that the ideal experiment demonstration for uncertainty principle is untenable .

uncertainty principle is untenable. .

Eddie Izzard AND John Leguizamo will both be on Kilby next week. too bad i’ll prolly miss them, as i fucking hate television and generally only watch 3-4 shows per week, except for when i’m bored and can watch PBS till the cows come mooooooing home. i try to catch Simpsons, Gilmore Girls, Fastlane, Scrubs, and SNL; almost always i end up missing most or all of them though.

i miss the good old days of staying up literally all night long talking to a close friend over IM. i hate IM, too. it’s funny how easily and quickly people can go from being casual acquaintances to pals to sweethearts to absent lovers to RL lovers and then to virtual enemies.

maybe funny isn’t the right word.

got meat-thing.com dehacked. fuckers at least keep their hacking to a minimum, so that’s relatively nice. but they got my pal Travis at least three times this past summer, so i’m kinda worried.

watched that PBS special about the 1970 Lennon/Yoko peace tour of Canada, featuring every Lennon fan’s favourite asshole/enemy Al Kapp. i’ve seen it a million times, but i always watch it when it’s on. it’s funny how i never mention John Lennon as one of my heroes, even though he is. i guess it’s just that he was like water, always flowing in the background, sustaining the world through the troubled times (oh yes, i remember when he lived, ah me!), and so is always kind of taken for granted. his power was that he attained equilibrium with the universe; he was the “celebrity” no one ever got tired of.

and he reminds me of the father my father used to be. they were both so alike, once. so long ago now. i miss them both terribly, but some things are like doors that melt into the solid rock faces of cliffs and once they’re closed you realise they will really never again open so long as the universe is still aglow; and that maybe they were never even open to begin with really; maybe it was all in ourselfs the whole time and we just projected it out into the world because we needed to but were too shy to become the human directly.
