vat update

development on the new Vat site is going good, if a bit slow, owing to 1) burnout, 2) Tony Hawk, 3) a billion holidays & birthdays this summer so far, with more coming up, 4) lots of other shit i need to worry about… like getting my girlfriend’s car to pass emissions in 2 weeks, and 5) my uncelebrateable day job, which i’ve missed a bit of here and there (though can’t say i’ve actually missed).

nonetheless, i’ve managed to come up with a fairly nifty interface, plus a backend that should prove itself pretty robust & extensible, even before i develop a database engine to drive it.

right now i’m working on a subroutine to look for .blurb files and display little blocks of HTML code for the sidebars. there’ll be several of them running all at once. just some random crap to make the site look more dynamic.

soon i’ll get a similar function going to look for articles & generate links for them in their respected areas on the site.

i’m going for an “upload & forget about it” approach. it’ll make things sooooo easy on everyone. no need to ever reopen a file & edit lines of code.

after i get all this stuff installed and working together (i’ve already integrated a blogging/newsing system, b2evolution), i’ll be making a few more stylesheets for different sections on the site. right now, the green skin will be used for the X-Box section, and we’ve already been planning the color schemes for the rest of the site, most of which, thankfully, will be the same scheme, at least for now.

i’m thinking the whole thing should be done within the month, with a 50% chance of it being well before that. knock on silicon.

in other news, they’ve gotten some serious interest promo-wise from a couple of EXTREMELY prominent companies. yeah, you’d know of them, even had you been living under a rock. keep your little bloodshot eyes peeled, motherfuckers. it’s all coming together.

which reminds me… subscriptions are DIRT cheap right now. you should get one. you should get one. you should get one. oh yeah: you should get one. this magazine’s a hella lot tighter  than you’d think it w/could be.

jae lethe (he/she/they) is a blogger, musician, artist, poet, web developer/designer, armchair philosophizer, teller of tales, and gadabout. Also, something he calls a "behavioral artist." (Not sure.) She has plans. BIG plans.

Among the things that he has done for a laugh are minor fractures, cuts, scrapes, and various scabs. Though she's quick to point out that they're no imbecile, we're fairly certain that he thinks the word means some kind of medieval pharmacist.

This is her latest home on teh internets - where jae stores their swear words, when they're not hurling them at the sun in vain.
